    Disappointing dyno results

I'll have to post the graph tomorrow, but the results are:

    176 RWHP
    156 RWT

My M50 put down 162 RWHP/156 RWT with just an intake and super sprint e30 exhaust.

I have since added M3 cams, and the M3 cam chip (Conforti software).

M50TU's with intake, M3 cams, proper software, and open exhaust typically make 230-240hp at the crank. Therefore I was expecting 230 crank hp as my exhaust system still needs to be opened up.

With a 15% drivetrain loss factor my numbers equal about 208 crank hp and 183 crank tq. Nothing to brag about.

The car was running very lean at first which really makes me question the conforti software (others who were running conforti software also were running lean). My Air Fuel curve only reached a safe level once I bumped up the fuel pressure to 58PSI (from stock 44psi). The bump in fuel pressure definitely improved drivability. That said, my air/fuel curve is pretty goddamn flat which I'm obviously happy about. The air/fuel curve on my modded m20 was up and down like whore on X jumping up and down on a waterbed.

    Next step:

    Cut off the cat
    Install the aluminum manifolds
Get a new fuel pressure regulator

Re-dyno and hope my numbers improve. I want to see at least 230 crank hp from this bitch.

    Other notable pulls:

    E36 M3 3.2 with intake/exhaust/software 216RWHP
    E36 M3 3.2 stock 208 RWHP
    M42 powered e21 122RWHP
    James (M42-technic) 0RWHP :)

Dyno was a ground mounted dynojet.

maybe you just need more fuel, like an AFPR or larger injectors. how many miles are on the engine?

stu is the king of M/S50 motors around here, maybe he'll have some tips.

I had to take a picture of the printed graph as I do not have a scanner.

As said before, dyno was a dyno jet. There are about 80,000 miles on the engine

Erik, don't get too discouraged. Those are pretty good numbers. 176 x 1.21 (dynojet conversion) is about 213 crank HP. That's about 20 more horses than your previous dyno. Are your cams properly timed? On a cold, winter day, you'd put down several more horses.

What kind of valve springs are your running, Eric? I'm not an expert on m50/s50's but it almost looks like you're starting to float the valves past 6k.

looks like some tuning is in order, although the AF plot looks ultra smooth, hmmmm

Can we stop making fun of poor english skills and get back to Lukas' engine? Just let him keep loving cars and don't bug him about grammar!

Eric, it's sad to be disappointed like that. 213 is not quite where you'd hope to be I know, but still better than 12V!

If more tuning is in order, Gunni does have that GB for a SMT6 that would help I think. Or maybe Jonathan has something. I think M3 cams recommended the install of double valve springs, where vanos had single spring I thought.
