    Need advice on new car...

My fiance totaled her car yesterday... shes fine, but we are looking for a replacement. with about $6k to work with cash we were thinking about an E36, but im not sure what the most reliable set up is. We'd rather avoid car payments. Any advice on the E36 models?

If you want something with a semblence of reliability you have to go late model E36. And its hard to find a nice one for $6,000, though you can find ratted out and early models for less than that every day. Unless your girl is really into cars, put her in an Accord or something more practical. Who wants to put up with the shit we put up with unless you are really an enthusiast?

From what I have been reading, stay away from that Audi. Multiple problems with the electrical as well as they are a bitch to work on all around.

I had an 2002 1.8T Quattro, and it was a great all around car! I should have bought it when the lease was up.

I worked for VW/Audi for 8 years... their electrical problems are easily solved. And I agree... i have quite a few friends runnin A4s and they are very dependable and look good. plus the 1.8T is easily modded for big HP if i ever feel the need. :)

Holy fuck a 2000 A4? And you don't want to have to work on it at home? I hope you like repair bills (if you don't work on it yourself), you will be getting fucked in the ass everyweek, like MikeE30325i

I think you missed the part where i said i worked for Audi for 8 years... they have problems yes, but ive already seen them all and have the ability to fix them no prob. A good friend of mine has 2 of them, both dead reliable, and one is running 18psi daily. I dont mind working on german cars, but hondas put food on the table, no need to put one in my driveway.

there are tons more cabbies around than anything else. Trust me I have been looking for over a year for a good late model coupe that has not been molested by the fast and the furious idiots. All I came across were either cabbies or 4 doors and few coupes that mostly were junk. But quite a few cabbies I saw were decent and would only need light work to make nice again. Kepp looking you will find one , check EBAY for real they are on there
