There were a couple E30's still made into I think January/February of 1993. But typically 1992 is the last year. The M42 is a great little engine for the E30 and there is a Supercharger bolt in kit for it. Grassroots magazine did an article I have to look through and find it though. Pretty cool!Kevin Gibson

Post some pics, sounds like a cool project.
Since your in San Diego have "Jims" upholstery in Kearny Mesa do your rear seat. I had the common splits in the top of my rear seats, too. $175 and they replaced the 3 center sections of leather and the top left and right portion. It's a really common fix for the e3o cabs, I guess they do a fair number of them. They knocked mine out in like 3 hours (installed my rear headrest brackets, too.)Comment

Good to know, I've been looking for referrals for upholstery shops for the iX interior.Post some pics, sounds like a cool project.

The cabrio has vinyl seats, so I don't know if that poses any problems, but I'm sure a quick phone call would answer that question. Otherwise, we'll just have to watch the for sale section/eBay and hope a rear seat backrest comes up. Thanks for the tip.
I brought the car into work today for a pre-purchase inspection. I found that it needs a few expensive bits (clutch and shocks), so we might have to talk her into knocking the price down a bit. It's really Ben's call since it will be his car. I don't mind doing the labor, and it would be a good opportunity to upgrade, so I hope he decides to go for it. It's really a nice car, completely rust free and needs very little mechanical work. I was seriously impressed when I put it up on the lift. Man, if I had unlimited funds, I'd have so many E30s.sigpicComment
