Shucks.. to go through all of that you might as well just pop the rear quarter glass. I am sure that a replacement couldn't cost more than $10.

How does closing your trunk lock your doors? I have to physically lock the trunk, and central locking takes care of the rest.

I don't know how you can lock yourself out of an e30.

Well, how about this: You deadbolt(flat 90deg.) the driver side lock and the key breaks off in the lock. As you may know, many e30's will not unlock from the passenger side if locked on the driver's. So how do you fix that?

I used a wire coat hanger through the license plate hole. I opened the trunk lid on my other e30 and used that to guide me to the lock actuator. Being born and raised in eastern europe helped, too...

Mine did the same thing. I unlocked the trunk to get something out and left the trunk lid open. The doors unlocked when I opened the trunk, I got in, put my key in the ignition, shut the door, then shut the trunk, and guess what?!!

^^^^ I had a similar experience. My girlfriend has a Mitsubishi Galant that has a feature that causes the doors to automatically lock at any given time. One morning I decided that I would surprise her by warming up her car so I used the remote to unlock the doors, I started the car up and then I popped open the trunk to get the ice scraper. After I was done scraping the windows, I put everything back into the trunk, closed it and then I went to get back into the car and the doors were locked! Needless to say that I lost brownie points that day.
