Shiiittttt.... I just look at my old mounts, and they were stuck on there. The bearings were packed full of grease and everything else in the strut mount area was covered in it.

The grease stuck that washer on to the old mount and I didn't realize it was a separate part.

      shit indeed. shit indeed.

Well good luck with pulling the stuff apart. Fortunately on an M3, the struts come out pretty easy. :)

        So anyways solution time!

Gonna have to take apart the other side and get that washer back in there, and repack it with grease.

Now on the driver side I can make it work. 1/2 of the threads are still good and I can get a nut down there with an impact wrench. This leaves me with a 10mm gap or so I have to fill. I found an old strut nut thing from my jettas suspension that slips right down there and is a perfect fit to fill the gap. Its going to look kinda funky but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

        Edit:

        So something like this

Dude. Just get a metric die to REALLY clean up and repair the threads tomorrow.

Do it once, do it right. The nuts should thread on, then the nylock portion of the nut should engage the threads and it should become more difficult to turn. Zip it down until the nut just touches the top washer with an impact, then when the car is on the ground, torque the nuts down properly.

feel you, been there, punched stuff, that's why we <3 e30s. Easiest way to figure shit like this out is www.realoem.com.. look what was there factory. Depending on how bad the threads are i'd replace the strut..

Yeah I normally do check real oem if I am taking apart something that I haven't done before. But I have done struts in general a bunch and its usually easy enough just to put it back together the way you see it come apart.

                  WOW

I got the die to re thread it today, and it worked AMAZINGLY easy, no problems at all. I was expecting to fight it the whole way down but I did it in like 2 min.

First thing that ACTUALLY worked for me nicely.
