tubo m20 vs m50

Very cheap very good aftermarket engine management systems can be used in turbo applications - with all the jappa turbo technology here is it much cheaper for me to knock on a Link Engine management (to replace L-Jet) and get a couple of turbo parts from a Skyline and build a 140 rwKw e30 (at 11 lbs boost). (This is on my m20b20)
It would cost twice as much to do an m50 swap - and you'd get a whopping 100 kW at the wheels.. wow.

Why would anyone waste their time on an M50 swap? If you're going to that much trouble (remember, you're probaby going for the whole E36 driveline too, not just the motor), why not go with an S50? And comparing a stock S50 to a turbo M20 might be a closer comparison.
If it were me, I would look at budget and legal issues (like, will a turbo M20 pass your local smog laws, etc) first. I have a feeling that doing so would allow the decision to make itself.
But what do I know? My sole engine mod is a Conforti chip.

All I used was the m50 motor.. everything else from the e30.
m50 motor swaps are legal here in cali and home made turbo's aren't, so that's obviously a large advantage for many people, good point Scott
edit: to add to my first statement, we just did an s50 swap for a local friend using an m20 tranny/flywheel/clutch/driveshaft setup. And they're also not very difficult swaps, go BMW 8)
