I emailed the guy and he responded - aid the 633 driveshaft bolted right up - I don't know if I really believe it...

Yea, I was quoted $150 for shortening and blaencing a two piece drive shaft...But it would be nice not to have to.

well, the ETK states the same driveshafts for Euro 633's and US 633's... only problem is there is a part number split at 1980, so you need to know what year/month the car was that he got the shaft from...

Another guy I talked to used a 84 633 driveshaft and he said it had to be shortened slightly so maybe before 80 it works. This is just a guese right now. Hi Ryan does the Etk show the length of the shaft?
Here is the thread the guy postedhttp://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e30/4938614-1.html

no, the length is not shown... but what is interesting, is the early driveshaft became the driveshaft for the automatic cars after it was superceeded in '80... so maybe it is shorter as the auto trans is longer than the manual (I think).

In general the auto tranny is longer. Realy all that is needed is a front section if you think about it if you use a 5er shaft and have it shortened it wll line up with the center support holes meaning the rear half of probally almost every early bmw shaft is the same length, and it's just the front section that is a different length. So in theory a Euro 633 front half coule just be slid onto the e30 rear hald and not have any flange issues or what ever. Of course the shaft would need balanced and this is awsoming the pitch for the splines is the same. I just wish there was a length out there for Engine position #1, #2, #3 of what the driveshaft needs to be(ruffly).

Yes but at close to $300 once shipped were trying to find a cheaper solution.
