    K&N Air Filter

I just got my car checked today and the mechanic said I need to change my air filter. I'm thinking might as well to go with the K & N cone air filter.

    - Where did you guys get yours from ? and how much are they ?
    - Should I get the heatshield too ?
    - Do you have any recommendation for other brand / product ?
    - Does it improve your performance ? (how much power increases ?)

    ps: this is for 1989 325is - E30

You can get K&N filters anywhere. They'll run you for about 30-50 bucks.

    Most definetly.

The regular airbox Mahle filter is great for me.... but that's not a cold air intake. In my opinion, intakes are for the noise only.

You'll never notice a change..... maybe 1-2 crank hp?

It's a waste of money. I had one a while back. I didn't notice any difference at all. The paper Mahle filter was tested against some 'high performance' panel filters and it outperformed them all.

this is why I bought a no name cone filter for my AFM swap. I'll probably replace it with something else later anyway!

Enough said. Mahle filters aren't a biased opinion anymore. It's a proven fact 8)
