I have one of their flywheels, I don't believe that trent is using one yet. I can tell you that it looks absolutely gorgeous, more so than ground controls, for comparison. It's light as fuck and looks to be very well constructed. As soon as I get the car running with it, I'll be able to make further comments on it

          bakaw!

i've driven a 330is with the 10.5 fly, as well as a 318ti clubsport with an 8 lb fly, and i liked em both. took a few minutes to get used to the revs dropping so quickly, but after that, rev matching became teh fun

Does anyone here actually have a lightweight flywheel installed on an M20? I do mean less than 10 lbs.I keep reading horror stories on crappy low erratic idle (dont really care about that) and about the engine stalling as soon as the clutch is depressed after high revs unless you pat the throttle.Although most of these stories are from e36 owners.

Is 8 lbs too light for a moderately modded M20? I keep hearing 10 lbs is best yet no one offers one.

Also since Im going to be using an SMT-6 soon should I forget about sending my chip to get remapped for a higher idle? In other words would the Smt-6 allow me to adjust the idle?

Not to hijack this thread, but will a single mass 325i flywheel work on an eta? If it does, I will either pick up one of these (see, not a total hijack) or have the one in my parts car lightened.

my friend with the clubsport had idle problems, but after a few days, the DME adapted and accounted for the new fly. the 330, on the other hand, received a tms burned chip with bumped idle. either way, neither car exhibits flaky idle behavior anymore.

It will bolt on, but the car wont ever start. It lacks the trigger to give the pulse sensors the readings they need.

mine's on an m50  sorry, it's the one made for an m20 though .. 8lbs, I'd say it's fine for an m20.
Don't bother with the chip, SMT6 isn't that much more than one anyway, with that group buy through Gunni, ends really soon IIRC though
