tranny swap question

i have a auto 1984 318i with the m10 engine. i can grab a complete manual 1987 325i all thats wrong is rusted out undercarriage for $500. should i keep going with my m10 turbo or swap in the m20 engine and tranny? if i do buy the car do any of you have any interest in any of the parts?

m20 all the way its not hard at all to swap either and you will never want to stop driving it when you feel the difference. ive driven both and i much prefer my m20 i engine over the turtle of an m10. the m10 is a good engine though just sssssssssllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooowwwwwwwwww w. if it has basketweave wheels i would want those.

hey there

i was just wondering, will the manual tranny from the 325i fit up to my m10? also, i just put in all the new suspension on the 318i, will it hold up to the m20?basically im wondering if i should finish the 318i project i started and later on look for a deal on an m20 engine or an entire 325i. i have neither driven the 318i or the 325i. this will be my first car. i have driven many cars, and minivans lol, but never a bmw. I am in kincardine ontario. if i can find people who want the parts i will part it out, it does have basketweaves., i just dont know going prices on e30 m20 parts

I am also wondering if anyone can answer that question, do I need to get a 325 tranny to put a m20 in my 318 or will my trans work?

use the m20 trans, it's much stronger. silly.

The M20 tranny won't bolt up to an M10, so that should make the decision easier.
