Info Needed On This Car (pics Inside)

ok i was told this is a 1986 325i, it has a 2.5 litre engine. I am looking at buying it. I am confused, it has the plastic bumpers and i dont think the 325i came to n/a until 87. It also has 4 lug wheels, i thought all 325's had 5 lug? There is a pic of a rust hole in here, the hole is on the underside of the frame rail up near the front left tire, is something like this repairable? wasnt sure if the car was garbage if the frame had a hole in it? thanks guys let me know whats up with this car. Also any idea what color paint that is?

    anyways heres the pics

All e30's are 4lug but M3's are 5lug. That is a 89+ or an 88 that someone put plastics on.

Thats def a 88.5+ car. But dont plan on driving it with that kind of rust damage on that part of the structure. Buy it dirt cheap and part the bumpers, etc.

People do fix rusty frame rails but it's on cars that's worth some money. Plus i see the lip of the trunk has rust along with the lic. plate lights.

And its technically not a frame rail since E30s are unibody. Meaning that part has to be cut out and equally if not more substantially braced.

so what am i looking at?

so as a project what would it cost me to fix something like this? I can do some bodywork myself. And if i parted it what sort of cash could i get?

Whats the asking price. I would say on a I model you wont be able to get more than about 900 parted it its a 5 speed with a good engine and trans.

Parting, if you do well, I'd say it could range from $1000-$2500

                        should i fix it?

I just finished restoring an 84 318i, it was fun, kinda expensive but i learned a lot. Would you guys think this qualifies as a good project car? I enjoy the work, just dont want to spend a ton on this. anyone know what exactly i need to do to fix that rust hole? Yes the engine and tranny are good, just the body has rust and interior needs seat covers.

Is it just me or is the "i" a little far from "325" on the trunk badge?
