I have an old Automobile issue from around '99 that had the E30 M3 as one of the 10 best cars to buy for $10k or less. Of course, this was back when you could buy a really nice one for about $10k.

Believe it or not, there isn't a car in the world that I would rather have right now than my 325is. Anything more (power/grip) at this point would be a waste.
