My brother in law (NitroRustlerDriver on R3V) has his RC set up for drifting. He's got pieces of PVC pipe on his wheels in place of rubber tires, that's how those guys can just slide for days.

Very awesome video. The ending is very sweet. And thankfully no techno, although sometimes thats okay.

                House and electronic are better.

You don't even need that. Mine has the foam tires that came with it and it's really hard to get it up to full speed because I have to gradually give it throttle so it doesn't loose traction, and by then my radio goes out of range.

Foam tires are among the best gripping tires out there. They would be and are horible for drifting. Not to mention they would wear down faster then you could mount them. Now, I agree that you can break them loose, but they just aren't made for it.

PVC is very smooth and slick so it doesn't take a lot to break them loose and keep them there. Plus they only cost $0.38 for about 1.5 ft and they last a long time compared to foam or rubber tires while drifting.

Foam tires on regulor concreet will spin, Foam tires are ment for carpet tracks or Perfectly smooth clean prepped concrete tracks.
Just curiose what type of rc car you have that came stock with Foam tires? Ussualy only Pan car chassis come stock with Foam tires.

I got it maybe 6-7 years ago, it's an Associated RC 10-L with an HPI BMW Z3 body. Yeah, it's probably just meant for indoor racing...which I've never done. About as impractical on the street as my E30 is. :)
I'd like to get an HPI someday though, those are too sweet.

I have/have owned about every car HPI has made, and they kick total ass. I've got a pair of Pro 3s, a Nitro RS4 Racer 2 (previously the top of the line race-car before the R40 came out) and some other assorted cars and trucks. The Pro 3s make great drift cars when set up right, and I found that Tamiya kit slicks work awesome for drifting action.

I have fun on tennis courts, especially. There's a little green dust to contend with, but overall, it's tons of fun and a perfect surface.

So I assume you guys all use the gas RC cars? I have always used electrics, so I am totally unfamiliar with the gas ones and how fast they are or how they run. In my electric now, I have a 14 turn double motor, so it gets up and goes...when I can get traction. :) All this talk about RC cars makes me want to get back into it again. Any tips or general info on the gas HPI's?
