I bought another bottle today, I figure I should do 2 bottles in the 'vert since it's an auto that was owned by a little old lady :) I already put 1 bottle in the gas tank, and 2 bottles of Lucas fuel system treatment in the tank before that.

Today I decided to finally change the oil and fix my leaks. I also dropped the oil pan and cleaned the sludge on the bottom of it. I am going to run the new oil in it for about a week to see how dirty it is. Then I am going to change it again and add the seafoam. I also put a bottle in the tank so I will see if I have a noticeable improvement in the next few days. My valves are still making the loud rattling-tapping noice when I hard accelerate up to 4K RPM but the performance seems to be as good as to be expected.

My 533i smoked for about a mile when I seafoamed it, but the Audi smoked like it was gonna blow up!! I had to drive it for like 10 miles before I could barely see any smoke, and that was just half a can. I'm gonna put the other half in the gas tank with the remaining 4 gallons of fuel and see where that gets me.

She's already idling smoother (for a 5 cylinder), so that's a plus.

Ya I get so many looks from pedestrians and the like, it's hilarious. I am just in my car busting up laughing while everyone around is like 'DUDE WTF PULL OVER UR GONNA EXPLODE!!!' I tend to do it around 10 or so at night when its dark so the neighbors don't mind as much though.

i seafoamed this morning, and it seems to feel a lot better. i've driven it 3 times since. once to work, once on lunch at work, and then home tonight after work. each time it seems to run a bit better (only about a 1.5 mile drive each way). i didn't know you could do multiple doses, so maybe i'll do another 1/3 pint this week and see how it feels then.

This is all very, very interesting. I recently did an entire top-end rebuild, but didn't touch the block. I do feel that the M20 isn't givin' me all it's got, so I may try a dose or two. I should probably fix the cooling problem first (AKA fucked fan clutch) so the car can actually sit and idle without overheating. Geez, I'm lazy.

have fun with that....i just changed out my fan clutch and water pump on my 85 318 and holy crap that 32mm nut just wouldnt budge...

you need to do one of two things

1. have a fan clutch tool, with should make your life easier
2. your ghetto, and you dont feel like spending 40-50 bucks on a fan clutch removal tool...so you just get a 32mm wrench (usually one that isnt very wide since you dont have much room to get it in there in the first place) and some vice grip pliers to put on the pulley...get that wedged against the block, and take the nut off...usually you want to pb blast it a few times before attempting this since its probably been awhile since its last been taken off..

i did number two, and after a shit load of pb blaster...and a torch to heat that damn bolt up, it came off eventually. i nearly stripped that damn bolt taking it off. good thing i had a new fan clutch to throw in there cause i deff roasted the old one heating that bolt up.

and its reverse threaded, if ya didnt know. did you do the top end rebuild yourself? if you did then i dont need to tell you how to do anything. just felt like venting about my fan clutch / water pump job the other day.

I think I'm going to do mine this weekend. I remember doing it to a Subaru that I had in college, and it did wonders for that.

I just Seafoamed my 318iS today. Didn't help the rough idle at all but it feels genuinely much more responsive throughout the rpm range.

The cloud of smoke was fantastic, much more then cars I'd done previously. I backed out of my driveway as a Civic was coming down the road and I just wrapped out 1st gear in front of him.. at least I think he was somewhere behind me lol.

My local friend Dan just did it to his iX, and some guy that lives down the street from him came out and asked if his house was on fire. :D

I don't think I'm going to do it in my driveway, tho. I live in a fairly densely populated subdivision, and I'm sure all of the neighbors would LOVE me.
