would a lightweight flywheel and clutch assembly show up on the dyno?

Just curious, they say that making parts lighter doesnt increase HP or torque, but it has to count for SOMETHING right? i mean it dont have to work as hard or push that extra rotating mass correct? how about gear ratios in the diff? will that show up? i know HP is torque applied over a period and time and all that...but want a second opinion. Thanks!

Won't notice improvement to power what-so-ever.

However, you can revmatch faster, and it's more fun to rev at stop lights - just for your own enjoyment. Ask me how I know...:)

yea it dosent do shyt. i have one in my car P/o had it installed.. no improvements. if you want to notice a difference get a markD chip. if you dont alrady have one.

As stated it will help with rotating mass. Also, if you are in a racing class and trying to shave pounds (as Colin Chapman said... add lightness), then there is a benefit there.

a lightweight flywheel just lessens required energy needed to spin the drivetrain, so in turn you would "minimize" the power loss from your drivetrain.

I dont' see why you won't notice a small minute difference on the dyno.

I know it would be nominal in the least. But I would expect to see some difference. Nothing that you wold be able to feel though.

I have a LW JBLflywheel and it revvs up fast, spools fast, and accelerates great .I think it makes a difference. . is E30 Groupie right though? will it will make a difference in both RWHP and BHP? BHP is measured at the flywheel right? or is it at the crank (w/o the flywheel attached).

I dont think it will change the bhp numbers, even if it did, I think it would be even less than the minute rwhp change. Like 3/4 hp lol

The engine is not producing any more power but it may cut drivetrain loss thereby making some more power at the rear wheels. But we are talking a tenth or so of a horsepower.

Depends on the dyno type, actually.

Intertia = yes. Loading = no.

It's a very minute difference if the dyno is run properly.
