Got rear-ended 1 minute ago

Ok, I just came back from taking my little girl to school, I stopped in front of my house to park and a guy in a Taurus station wagon (1990is) hit me in the rear, the point is that I was moving backwards also and truning to park, so he hit me square in the rear right corner. I was going to post pics, but actually there is nothing to show, nothing happened to the E30, not even a scratch.
The Taurus plastic bumper fell apart in little pieces I think He hit me in the angle where that corner is the toughest.

BTW, it seems he had no license or something, because When I said.
"My bad also, I was going backwards, let's see how I help you fix this"
I was really thinking of buying him a new bumper, he said ok, and just took off.
So it seems that even though I am part guilty, he decided that he was going to get in trouble.

Maybe he thought "Shit I just rear ended a BMW" :p

Good thing your daughter wasn't in the car, and good thing there was no damage. He must not have been going very fast. That definitely could have turned out much worse than it did, you lucked out.

Sounds like he had a suspened license or stolen tag or worse stolen car and just did not want any part of anything. Thankfully for you no one was hurt and your car was not damaged at all. Just in case you might want to check your backup lights in case they are out and this was why he did see you backing up too...

I got hit at the same angle by a 91 toyota pickup. But I have a BMP rear apron. So this guy smashes into my rear corner, dead center on his front grille. It destroyed his bumper, grille, valance, and hood latch bracket crap.

It didn't shift my bumper, crack it, or even scratch the paint. I don't think it even took my top coat of wax off. Didn't do anything to the tail panel/quarter panel either.

Point of story: e30 rear corners are tuff. Glad your car and you are OK.

I had a similar incident happen when I was driving a 24ft rental truck. I was at the McDonalds backing into a space when the corner of the truck hit the glass of the car beside me. I was watching the space on my right and I neglected to see who was on my left. I didn't take the turn sharp enough and I smashed the guy's quarter glass. He's walking out of the store as he sees all of this unfold so I finish parking the truck and get out to talk to the guy. I say "Hey, sorry about that. Lemme give you my-" and before I could finish my statement, he jumps in the car, speeds around the parking lot and then his buddy comes running out of the store as he jumps in and the car speeds off.

And I am thinking "gee, that was wierd" and later on I was discussing this with some friends and they suggested the same thing. Either the car was stolen or they had no business driving it or there was some other discrepancy that caused them to not want to stick around.

I had my E30 rammed by a 2 1/2 ton Ford E3500000 going about 30mph when I was doing 0. She said she was not looking. I got 3k out of it, a new bumper and put her Convenience on Wheels out of business... supposedly.

Another time a dude in a Taurus backed into the front of my (old red diving board equipped) E30, denting my Yuroh playte. We were at a car wash, and I was directly behind him. How did he not see me?
Anyway, he had all sorts of white paint on his bumper, whilst my plate had only a dent. I looked at him and told him everything was cool and went back to cleaning my rims. He just drove off or something.

Good observation, but for some misterious reason my street has a no parking sign on the right side, we can only park across the street (it's a one way street) it really sucks when it's pouring :(

And no, I didn't get his sideskirts, I did get a lot of plastic pieces of his bumper though :p.

UPDATE: My son (19) calls me at noon and says "So you got rear ended this mornig", I freak out because I hadn't told him yet, when i asked how he knew it happend that the guy was one of his friend's father (small world). I still can't find out why he left thoug.

Thanks everybody for the good thoughts, but what was amazing is that he could not have been going faster than 20mph, and his whole front grille and bumper fell apart, Tauruses look tough, but it seems they are not.
