    EVOIIIM3 in EC magazine

Rec'd my new copy of EC magazine in the mail yesterday. As per usual, I check out the table of contents to find once again that there is very little use in continuing with the subscription as they rarely ever have much of my interest. I continue to thumb through the pages with basic glances of articles which are uninteresting to me. Nearly to the end of the magazine there is a two page article of and e30m3. Wait a second, that M3 looks very familiar. I was surprised to see Mike's car gracing those pages, but not shocked. At the end of the short article I was a little dissapointed by the European Car writer for not making the article longer and even more informative (although there is quite a bit of information in such a short article). Swale and his E30 M3 are much more deserving of being the centerfold and listed in the table of contents than many of the other cars who find their way into that magazine. Thumbs up for Mike --- thumbs down (again) for European Car Magazine.
Don't forget the good things Hitler did.

EC is just a sponsor rag. They have been repeatitively been get worse over the years and there's an ad on everypage. I let my lapse also, just not worth the money, would rather pay more for better articles and less fuff. Bring back bigger photos and less product endorsement then I'll by again, like the way Roundel's test.

My copy of the latest EC mag has yet to arrive.....it'll probably be on my doorstep when I get home tonight. I will have to seek out this article on the M3. Glad to see something genuinely interesting gracing those pages for a change.

I have to agree with you guys that in recent years EC mag has sold its soul to the advertising whore and its nothing more than a bunch of product endorsements for VW/Audi. In the last two weeks I received a subscription renewal notice, but I think I'm going to let it run out. I'm not sure what other BMW mag I may consider instead. There's Performance BMW, but that publication seems to have a lot of focus on "bling-ing" out BMWs.....not exactly the kind of stuff that gets my motor running. I suppose I could look into getting Evo as an alternative. Excellence is a great mag although it focuses solely on Porsche. Very good articles and the market updates can be useful if you ever find yourself in the market for one.

2nd to last pages. Why you ask?

Well, notice how EC no longer really does coverage of cool older european cars. Notice it's all tuner cars now also.

These are the times. They are a business and need to sell mags and advertisement. They have to cater to the advertisers and kinda do what they want. Now if it was back in the early mid 90's my car would have been on the cover and had a 3-4 page layout.

Notice even the top cars only get 2-3 pages. It just doesn't have the content that is used to. It's slipping. I started my subscription to EC WAY back in 1990.

Anyway, I will renew my subscription. When they were shooting my car, I had a long talk with them and see their side.

You know what, at least it's in there!!! They still respect he E30 M3!

Hopefully I can scan it and put it online.

They also produce euro-tuner which is just rewashed and layout changes to EC. Congrates to be in print but I would rather be in PBMW or GRM then in EC nowadays.

I feel the level coming out of Peterson pub house just doesn't cut it anymore. Why can't they bring their standards up? Their newstand prices are the same as everyone elses?

Why not drop TBMW a line Mike? I'm sure they'd feature your car, they've run 5 different E30 articles in the last 2 issues alone. Also, they really love the older Bimmers.

                TBMW? Total BMW?

I tried Performance BMW last year, they told me my car was to stock, and something they see every day over in the UK.

Who knows, now this might open the door for other things.

                  Yea, Total BMW.

PBMW were clearly lying to you, the most modded M3's i've seen from UK were the V8 engined one, John W's Motec'd sport evo and Martin H/J's one. Well, he was getting serious before he "sacrificed" it!
