The cause of your problem is most likely an extremely fragmented hard-drive (no, the windows defrag program nor the Norton one will fix it completely). Back-up everything on CD that you want to save, then reformat and reinstall windows. If you've never done it before, and you don't know too much about computers, I'd find someone who has done it before and have them do it for you. After you reformat, you'll be using an essentially new computer.Originally posted by MattE30So I have to back up everything I have on my computer, then put everything back on, so wouldn't the computer just be as slow again?Originally posted by Grueliusand i do not know what bugg brakes are.Comment

you would think so, but no....it's like night and day. I try and reformat/reinstall every 3 months or so.Originally posted by MattE30So I have to back up everything I have on my computer, then put everything back on, so wouldn't the computer just be as slow again?Comment

if you have a Pentium 4 1.3 - 2.0ghz machine, and you have 256K of cache, odds are its the Willamette Core, which is Socket 423, so if you have SDRAM, then you have the original 845 chipset for PC133 Support
Ditch that setup, not worth upgrading
instead grab an Abit Board, Athlon 2500+ Barton, and at LEAST 1024MB of Crucial/Corsair DDR333 Ram. Trust me its worth it.
