What is a decent mkIII Jetta worth?

My sister has apparently lost her driving privileges so my parents want me to put her car up for sale. They told me that anything they get out of it over what they paid I can keep, so i'm trying to see what a good reserve of Ebay might be.

The Facts:

1995 Jetta III (GL I beleive) 2.0 engine
108k miles
auto
Green w/ tanish interior
sunroof
cd player(not factory)
alloy wheels from p/o

The exterior is in pretty good condition minus little chips and a rust spot on a peice of metal that runs through the rear passerger window.

If you want to see what a good reserve is on eBay, then why don't you go to eBay and look at what the reserves are now?

Well man, I can tell you that my friend picked up a 96 mk3 jetta for $2500. It is black with tan cloth interior (GL) 2.0 automatic, had about 68,000 miles on it. stealies with hubcaps, had a dent in the front fender and paint wasnt the best. It looks nice now after he did some work. Id say dont take less than the area around 3800-4500. My buddy stole his, and all the other ones he was looking at were around 5k. A guy he worked with was selling, and he only got it for the price (read: he didnt want auto).

I guess the other question is how much did they originally spend on it. We want to make sure you actually get to pocket some on this deal....

I mean I used to have a 96 VR6 5spd MK3 Jetta. AND that was SLOW.

I could not even begin to imagine driving a 2.slow auto.

I can deffinately agree with you guys on the thing being slow as piss. They paid 3k for it so if I could pull 3500 or so i'd be estatic. I never sold a vehicle on ebay before, how much do they take?

try advertising it in a paper or in the autotrader first. there are also free places to list things for sale.. do ebay if you can't get what you want locally, they take a pretty big chunk off car sales, especially if you use a reserve price.
