Or another way to ask - the crank can handle ALL the power from the motor, but gravity is going to bend it? I don't think so...

well george.. if you have a bare crank and lay it horizontally on a surface then yes. gravity will bend the crank at the non supported points. but having a crank bolted in to the block on an engine stand will certainly not do that and im sure blunty was just reinforcing how much of a tool that independent shop guy was by saying that.

Are you saying that storing a bare crank on a shelf ruins the crank? Is this like the airplane on a treadmill thing?

We had a Chevy 350 V8 on a 3 wheel stand for YEARS while we worked on the car it was going in. Never hurt the stand a bit and never tipped over or anything. We even dragged it across the yard through dirt and grass without a problem.

Hahahaha, I forgot about that douche at Orr. What was his name? Jeff??? He told me that we might as well scrap the motors and start over...

Engine stands failing are the least of your concern when you're at Blunt's garage. You gotta be careful when he's using the hoist to lift your engine out of the back of a pickup!!!

BTW- return my fucking calls old man.

I thought orr was supposed to be one of the best places to go? The PO of my m3 had them do everything. Including the top end rebuild.

It is true that a crank will bend out of the engine if it is layed down horizontaly. Wierd, but true.
