I hit an inflated E-350 wheel that weighed about 85 .lbs and it caused AAA to total my car. It sent all kinds of stuff into my engine and broke pieces off pistons, smashed front skirt, radiator etc. So I fixed it. F-U AAA.

I've had two on this car.

First I was driving home from work on a sleety, wintry night coming to a fairly steep hill to a blind intersection, someone pulled out in front of me and it was all I could do to get across the yellow line and not tbone them. I came back across the road and slid into a driveway cutout end of a curb at about 5mph Simply could not stop/turn at that point nice and icy. Technically not an r3v since my tires weren't bald and less than a month old. I was somewhat fortunate in that it happened only a few blocks from my house, and it was all downhill, so I pushed my car and slowly rolled to the garage. Cost me $120 for pan, pump and gasket. Changing an oil pan on xmas eve, fun times.

Next one happened in january. Very snowy and you know when the plows go across a street, they leave piles of ice etc. across the road. I'm pretty sure I cracked my pan on one of them, I came out the next morning to go to work and noticed a large trail of oil under my car got the skidplate ready for this winter.

3 times for me. Ive got 2 documented on R3V. The third was the last nail in the coffin.
She shattered it into 46 pieces, Including the upper pan and powersteering brackets (m42@ 60mph into curb)
Lesson learned? Never let a female drive your low car even if you love them.

Not my first pan casualty, but my first with the e30.

    Best first date ever.

Once on my first car. '87 325 stock ride height. Not sure where it happened, but there were 6 quarts of oil on my driveway one day before work.

I broke mine last week, just one week into ownership :(.

I came out of a parking lot and cracked it on dip between the parking lot and the roadway used for rain drainage. Good times.

Never! And my new pan is only 2" or so deep, so there's not much chance of a smashed sump there either !

check out the 666fab one. And fantastic m42's have their oil pans at the lowest point of the car. Amazing design...

Only cracked one, and it was cracked when i got it. I just made the crack bigger by going to fast on a back country road.

3x First in L.A. on a dip. Second in Mexico on a speed bump third in Mexico also speed bump. Now I have a Landcruiser and have several feet of clearance.

The first one cost me almost 800.00 using a new after market pan second two in Mexico were about 550.00 & 200.00 respectively. The first one I had to buy a new oil pan from BMW it was almost 400.00 & 150.00 labor, third I had the one I broke prior welded and r&r'd.
