It seems that, other then fwappy's flex disk, all the destroyed ones had little or no reinforcing cords in it. I bet that had something to do with it. Maybe some brands don't reinforce them with cords?

Yah, and I bet the PO drove it like that for thousands of miles, too. It was seriously holding fine! I bet the fact is was basically ruined to a fabric flexdisc caused it to absorb much more vibration. Oh the irony!

I swear I have seen a urethane disk some where before. No experience but just an idea.

Hmmmm says OEM. Definetly not Genuine BMW though. I gotta see if we can get lemforders.

By the way... The two I've destroyed had cords, to whoever made that note.

So I definetly just had a nice chat with our warehouse guys and they explained a whole lot to me.

                  Alright so here's the deal.

First off: Lemfoerder does not manufacture flex discs. If you see someone selling one made by them, this is nothing more than just re-labeling or re-boxing them with the Lemfoerder name on them.

Second: There are companies in India who manufacture these flex discs, who don't know a clue of what they are doing. These flex discs are basically the steel rings that are lined up in a machine, and strings are tied around it to form the flex disc. Anyone here that's shattered one knows that the strings is what actually holds the disc together, and not the rubber.

There is a specific pattern in which BMW ties the strings around the steel rings, which gives it the strength of the original flex disc. The indian copies do not share this characteristic, which is what causes near-immediate failure on their units.

Third: The units we carry at KO Performance are the ones marked with "GAB", which is the main company providing them. Other companies (such as lemfoerder), just buy shipments of those and have their name put on it instead. If there is enough interest, we can offer a sale for the regular units for this week only. There's not much margin on the M unit discs to give any discount on them... but we have a lot of the regular ones available in stock.

Who would be interested in throwing down for a new flex disc? I'm placing an order for one already. :)

Nah, we cant do much on that... best we can do is $77 on those. (Our current pricing)

I'm talking about the regular OEM units, but the non-Indian ones. You'd be buying the ones that actually last. :)

Ordered FEBI flex disc, new csb, driveshaft center bushing or sleeve, new bolts and nuts. Should arrive on friday morning thanks to overnight shipping from BMA Parts. If this one fails then obviously I'll need to send my drive shaft somewhere to rebuild.

Patrick is going to look into making a flex disc for me out of aluminum to test, let's see what else I can break lol
