5-finger in the yard

too bad most "updated" yards have everything priced out on the computer. its good and bad in a way. They want $5 a switch which is rediculous, but $170 for a motor which is why i now have a m50.I never see anybody paying for small items. I would imagine that the cost of what must be widespread theft is included in the price of everything else.
If you want lower prices:- Don't shave
- Don't wear clean clothes
- A little grease on the face never hurts
- Don't look organized or have a list of part #'s
- When paying, pull out crumpled bills - no wallets or credit cards
- When they ask what kind of car, always say "1985" loud and clear and mumble "BMW"
- Grab a power mirror with faded paint and have them price this item first. When they tell you it is $27, exclaim how expensive it is and how you can't afford it. Put the mirror into the restock bin as they hate to see items going into the restock bin. The prices for everything else should drop.

As awesome of a write up as this is, I don't think it would fly. Being 17 and going to these part yards they put the price up a lot. I needed a plastic front bumper and a fellow R3V'er gave me a quote from a parts yard for $100. I went down and the same guy told me $150. Wouldn't give it to me for $100 because I "could have been some lying punk." Went back a few days later and got a younger guy to sell it to me for $100.
I guess it all depends on the seller too...Leave a comment:

I grabbed an M50 manifold for $30. That's almost a five-finger! Went there again and coulda had another one for 15 -- didn't feel like pulling it though since we were trying to find a very obscure NLA 454 emissions part at the time (some emissions tech was too smart for his own good lol).Leave a comment:

lol the yard i went to wanted $50 for the kidneys. i lol'd.I usually pocket the hardware needed for the parts I'm grabbing. Parts yards are sketchy anyways. One day I pulled a set of kidneys and they wanted $25 for 'em. So I left without it. A couple days later I came back and found a better set. At the window it was a different chick. $8 this time. Sketch. :?Leave a comment:
