    PBR brake pads?

I stopped by my local foreign parts dealer to look for dust-less brake pads and he told me to buy PBR brake pads. $35 for the fronts and $40 for the rears. Has anyone ever heard of PBR or had any experience with them?

    THanks, George

PBR is a very well known Australian brake manufacturing company. My big brake kit uses front and rear PBR calipers. If you're going to buy PBR pads, buy the PBR Metalmasters. I've heard nothing but good things about the company. They are VERY big in the industry.

Thanks Chris, I'm glad someone has heard good things about them.

I used to run PBR Deluxe pads. At first I thought they were soft, but they turned out fine after getting used to them. I even ran them at three autoXes. Very little dust and a great price.

THe deluxe have a much nicer feel then the metal masters.

MM are really hard on rotors, and are bad in the rain. There can be some delay between brake travel and the pad biting the rotor.

          They are both low dust.

I just switched from the Deluxe to Mintex C and they are much nicer feel and bite.

Thanks for the info, good to hear as I have not experienced the delux pads, however have been very happy with the metal masters. However, PBR does not recommend the delux pads for any kind of track usage. What do you think?

Are you looking for a track pad?

PBR's are street pads, so are the mintex.

Looking for dual purpose pads really. I'm not competitive enough to go with raced pads as of yet.

from what I've heard, PBR was bought out by another company and their new pads aren't that great.

I too had only heard good things about their pads, so i bought a set for my 928.

So far, i'm not impressed. Should have gone with EBC green.

I have metalmasters and they squeal like crazy until warmed up. Otherwise decent pads. I will try the EBC Greens next time.

Porterfield R4S aren't race pads. You're thinking of the R4. I run R4S on my car, great pads, they drop an anchor when they're warm. Good bit of squeal when cold, fairly low dust.

                            :stupid:

I ran the Porterfeild R4 at my last track day, and a few days after. They were incredible when warmed up at the track, but unbearable on the street. When cold, there was a HUGE delay between initial bite and actual stopping power. And talk about sqealing. . . . .

I'm running the Metal Masters on my new 318is and I'm less than impressed. I'd almost rather have a stock pad.
