Power of a generic Grand Prix GTP with mods

I know you have all seen the teen age kids driving generic Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and thinking they are the absolute shit. Now what I want to know is what do those things make for factory horse to the wheels? 200?

It is a 3.8L with a SC on it.

I kid I know has beat ass one with a rod knock but it has "headers, intake and a smaller pulley" and the kid claims it is pushing 350hp to the wheels. No dyno sheet to back it up but he insists.

      Is it FWD?

Stock GTP was making 260hp when it was new.

          yeah, its LOLwd

They are cool cars, definately not your average pontiac ;)

Best part about driving them is that little boost guage in the dash...like 5 bars kinda shaped like a cell-phone signal bar.

I almost got pulled over so many times watching that thing go, then I realized I was in california and didn't give a shit

If he did only those mods mentioned and increased the power that much, we have some questions. Can the injectors handle that much more fuel, he must be running hotter than normal if he did not add an intercooler air or water. GM v-6 is going to crap out real soon with that much going on. Not to mention the transmission and axles. Everyone knows what Pontiac stands for right?

One ran a 14 flat against me once. Pully, intake, tuning and a few other things.

Nope, just generic like autozone rims.

Yeah, they put out about 200fwhp stock, if we're talking the genII 3.8l. Stock boost is only 5lbs I think and the most you can up it without software is maybe 8lbs with the 3.5" pulley IIRC. With the mods he's talking about, I'd say 250 at the wheels max, unless it's been tuned and runs a 3.25" or smaller pulley. They can make good power though with heads, cam, and all the other usual boost mods.

Ugh, I have way too much useless domestic mod knowledge taking up space in my head.

HOLY SHIT. This kid is such a fucking tool. He says he has an intercooler and points to the fucking tranny cooler. Then he says oh I'm getting a huge one for a hundred bucks directly from Japan. I laugh and say "Why Japanese parts on American car?" He says "It is huge and cheap" and I said "Oh ebay?" he says "Yup" I laughed.
He has a 3.50 inch pulley, headers, exhaust and a generic cone filter. Says he turned the boost up to 13lbs. I really doubt that. Then tries telling me he kept up with a 410rwhp 5.0 Fox body Stang. I said "You were either dreaming or his car was seriously running like shit" he doesn't say anything. Then goes on to say if he is going 40 on dry pavement, if he stomps on it it will break the tires free. One kid asks what his future plans are and he says "Twin turbo and methanol kit" I said "Twin turbo? WTF? Just gonna have the turbos feed the S/C?" and he says "yea" and i said that is going to be a fucking nightmare to do, have fun cutting out body parts. and he says "I'll be pushing like 600 to the front wheels, I'll have fun when I am done with it" and I said "what you gonna do about fuel?" He says "well what you mean?" I said "if you start pushing more power, you need more fuel" and he says "never thought about it."

Are these engines capable of 600FWHP? Will a built tranny even hold that??

Sounds like he has big dreams that aren't going to go nowhere. The ebay intercoolers do work, i had one on my 86 Daytona Turbo Z and 86 Shelby Charger. Both had the same motor a modified 2.2 turboII.

Those little 2.2L are done up by Shelby or something right? Those are quick cars. Would love to have a Spirit R/T.

This kid also used a fucking speaker wire for a spark plug wire cause he couldn't afford new ones!

Its pretty bad that you know this kid so much that you have talked to him on more than one occasion.

Some are done by Shelby and others just has his name on them. The Sprit R/T's are sleepers, no one expects a four door to run like the way they do. When i sold my Shelby Charger i vowed that i'd never own a FWD again. But deep down inside i still would like to get a factory turbo mini van with a 5 speed and build it. And LOL at his plug wire
