Does it say what the difference is? I know they were originally for a 5er but that doesn't really matter. Not in my mind.

Just heard back from Germany:
"The difference between the regular Type I and the winter version was a special painting which was resistant against dirt and de-icing salt, as well as covers for the wheel bolts."

Where do you come across all these parts? I wish I lived across the pond

Some of them are found on ebay, others among friends.
The parts from the haystack(hayloft) for example is from my sons classmates dad, whom used to Work as a BMW mechanic.

The AC Schnitzer parts are cheap over here, because everybody's hyped about Mtech 1 & 2 kits, so it's easy for me to find the parts and buying them cheap.
