    my dad owns a 911 turbo 996 and a 997 rsr :)

he used to track the turbo with 550hp but then got the rsr and took some mods off his turbo to make it street legal again...the rsr is some 600hp around there

bottom line is i love porsches, and i love turbo ones at that...plus they are a hardcore chic magnet haha

is that the same color of the car? i have always dug 944s...especialy a turbo??? shiiiit DO IT

      Yeah, it's black.

When I was about six I got a Matchbox 944 and immediately fell in love. I still have that car sitting on my desk, it's one of the few matchbox cars that survived unmolested through the years, perhaps it's a sign?

If I had the money to spare I would have this car in my driveway already but I'm a musician who works at a garage to pay for his music habit and does freelance graphics to pay for his car habit. The car isn't officially for sale until the spring so I have some time to save but it would still be tight. I logically HAVE to keep the E30 because I can't have the Porsche as my only car in NH. Even though my family has a plethora of vans and trucks the only vehicle that I can always rely on is the E30. And it would be one hell of a DD...

Keeping the IS puts a much larger financial strain on this situation but assuming that I wouldn't be buying a $10,000 headache I think it would be worth the ramen. I do worry that I might be biting off more than I could chew though...

yea, it sucks when you have to come to a decision whether or not to keep the bmw or not to afford the porsche...i have two cars now (you can see in my sig) and my vr4 is no where near in good of a shape as this porsche sounds....it runs and drives but i couldnt afford to even dd it so i have to get another dd thats why i bought my beater 318....i would recommend either selling your e30 and buying a cheaper one to dd and get the porsche, or maybe you can get a loan? and keep the is you have? maybe your friend will take payments?

whatever you do...you dont want to dd that porsche

951's are nice cars but as mentioned, you better have deep pockets. I almost traded my S50 E30 for a nice 951 in San Diego 2 years ago but something about having to pull the motor in order to do a clutch just didnt do it for me...

the way i figure in my situation is, im young only 21...and love the vr4 that i want to keep it even if i have to wait a while to put money into it and making it where i want to be...i realize its a fragile car and the more i drive it the worse itll get until i can hook it up how it deserves...so the e30 is the dd to take the dd abuse and the vr4 can be a sunday car :)

Well I'm 22 so I'm in a similar boat. My E30 is supposed to be my "sunday" car but I drive it everywhere and it's really quite bulletproof at this point. I done all the basic maintenance I can think of and all the basic upgrades (suspension, chip, HIDs :)) and with a skid plate (fourth oil pan went in on tuesday) and a little more clearance (yay coilovers) I think it would be easy to consider a Daily Driver. The theory with the Porsche is that it's already been sorted and I would be buying a "finished" project to just have fun with. Hopefully this would save me a bit of money as long as I can control my modding addiction. When looking at this car my boss commented "Only 400hp? I'd think you could get 700 out of that thing..." I'm trying to convince myself that doing that would be out of the question...

I only need to be faster than my bosses s/c e36 M3 and I think this would do it with flying colors.

Corbeau seats are absolute pieces of shit, just FYI. That ain't a "selling point".

They're Corbeau Forzas, while not great, they fit me and seem to do the job so until I can afford recaros they'll work.

I'm not even going to touch the reliability comment...

porsches are very solid cars. they will hold up very well and arent some massed produced pos so more care is put in to building it right. if you know how to work on them, thats a plus, and will save you beacou bucks in the long run. just as long as you know how to drive and take care of your car, youll be straight. apparently this car sounds to be in good shape. if he plans on buying it as a sunday car, and keeps an e30 for dd he will be in good shape especially if he keeps his e30 he has now since it runs so well.

when i asked if it was turbo, it was because i did not take the time to read what he said because i got all excited it was a 944 turbo poorsha ;)

375hp is SWEET. and perhaps...if you get it tuned right and all...you could squeeze a lil more boost out of her and be ok make that bitch as light and ridgid as you can get and roll around in a money ass sunday driver.

i've come very close a couple times to getting a 951, but it's always the maintinence that kept me away as well.. as mentioned, clutch jobs are crazy, timing belt/ balance shaft belt jobs are crazy (as far as precision..),parts are crazy as well. but man what a rad car! 50/50 weight distribution, some have the lsd, awesome gearing, and pull like nobodys business (especially that one i'd imagine, w/ all the extras) i was on beaverun in an 86 951 that was near mint, only chipped, and it made a bigger impression on me than any car i've ever been in.. for real.
