    what should i do?

so i've got a tough descision...

    i need new tires

should i just buy my wheels now? or get new tires for the bottle caps and lower it first? tire cost is within $10 of eachother and i get my wheels(and tires) at cost (the benefits of working at a shop). so which should i do first...wheels/tries, or tires/get her lowered? discuss

Wheels are an expensive mod that really don't give much bang for the buck performance wise.

I'm running 14" Basket weaves and am happy with them.

Bigger wheels = bigger tires = lots of money, and for what?

I found a nice set of basket weaves with center caps and near new tires for $200.00 on craigslist which were a nice upgrade over my bottlecaps and make the car look much better and for cheap.

I would love to put some 16" Koenigs on my car, or maybe some 15" Ronals, but between the wheels and new tires, I'm looking at $1000.00

If they made Alpina Kopi's in 16", then I might consider it, or some "throwing stars" in 4x100

Unless they are wheels that you absolutely must have, then hold off a bit.

Next week or maybe next month, you'll get over your infatuation for them and still have the money or have spent it on something better.

Not a lot of choices for us 4x100 guys unless you want to do the 5 lug conversion or go with adapters.

Edit: BTW, I still have my bottlecaps with near-new tires on them which I can run during the winter/rainy months so I don't mess up my Weaves from the rain and road dirt mix that will ruin the paint on them.

Bottlecaps in the winter, Basketweaves for the spring, summer and fall.

Suspension before wheels. Do not deviate.

Nothing looks more retarded on an E30 than aftermarket wheels on stock ride height.

Def suspension first. I have 14" bottlecaps and weaves on mine and H&R Races.

Tires for your bottlecaps will be real cheap anyways. Just get some, do necessary suspension upgrades, buy your new wheels and tires and then have the caps as backups/winter wheels.

+1, that's exactly what I did. I have 17" on my car and kept the bottlecaps with like new tires for the winter and dropped the car.
Only difference is that I bought the wheels first and then lowered the car a month later.

Wheels, then suspension, then if there's money leftover, buy tires.

Tires in my honest opinion make THE biggest difference , next to suspension. I would absolutely hate to drive a car on good suspension but 400 treadwear tires. You'll notice right away how crappy the tires are.

I say get good tires and wheels. Going with 15s you'll be ok with stock ride height, then upgrade the springs and shocks. Or go with springs/shocks and then do the 15s and good tires.

One mod shows the weakness of the other in this case ...

I have ground controls and koni adjustables on stock weaves. Thats how my priorities go. I think ill do wheels next summer but something cheap like rota slips.
