I believe it was more like:
"l'm talking about the good jerk, that nobody-ain't-home jerk. So you get the Vaseline ready... and you just look at your dick and go: ''Scream if you want to. No one's gonna hear.''

it's pointless with a modern tranny. but keep doing it if it makes you feel better.
my getrag 260 has 240k+ and it still shifts smooth as butter. that, and if I did try it, my RPMs would drop to idle before I was done. LOL. (I measured it from 7000rpm to idle and it took 4 seconds)Comment

FIX'd
Doubleclutching.
Doubledouching, maybe.
Fucking movie fanboi retards.
Just fucking quit it right now, double clutching has not been necessary since 1950...IT IS JUST A FUCKING STUPID MOVIE LINE! IT NEVER APPLIED TO CARS MADE AFTER 1920 at fucking all.
Admit it, none of you guy ever even heard of the term before good old Vehicle Identification Number said it in that stupid movie, right? My Dad drove trucks in India and Australia in WWII so I have heard plenty of this crap...but I have never ever been silly enough to ever DO it even after that fucking faggy movie line.Comment

Here's a basic rundown:
1. With syncromesh transmission you do NOT have to double clutch.
2. It could be a tiny bit easier on the syncros if you double clutch. It could also be harder on your throwout bearing and pressure plate due to using 2x per shift.
3. You may double clutch if you have a bad syncro or cannot get into reverse etc
4. Doublecluthing was needed for downshifts as you have to speed up the engine input shaft to the speed of the wheels.
5. Doubleclutch was NOT needed for the upshift as the revs drop to the matching speed automatically. See "Power-shifting" for old school upshifting.
6. Double clutching has nothing to do with heel-toe, although they can be done at the same time.
7. Shifting smoother can also be achieved by slowing down your conventional down shift to the same amount of time you take on a double clutch.
8. If you don't know how to do it, who cares, you don't need to.
9. If you want to go faster then first learn how to "drive" not how to shift.
10. Yes, the only reason we are talking about this is the crappy F&F writers!
Anyone want to begin an equivalent discussion about:
A. How not to blow the intake manifold welds with "Naws"
B. How to avoid the ever present danger of your floorboards blowing off
C. How to shift up 7 times and downshift a few more in a drag race'74 2002 - Build blog at

I don't double clutch, but I do somewhat of an an equivalent to it when down shifting.
Brake, select neutral without using the clutch.
Blip throttle
Clutch in, select gear, clutch out :drink:
