      The correct answer to that is from atmospheric pressure. There is an absense of air inside the piston chamber there for the higher pressure pushes air into the chamber. That one threw me off too.

          although on some of the pics like the one with the cans that poor faster, I didn't inlarge the image to notice that one had a hole in it. made the same kind of mistake on some other ones.

            Not really. What would happen if an internal combustion engine was in outer space?

            In a forced induction engine, the piston doesnt suck any air in. It is forced by a simulated higher-than-atmospheric pressure. A N/A engine runs at 14.7 psi of "boost" (at sea level). "boosting" an engine means going over 14.7 psi.

            Edit: That was a bad example. A normal N/A engine runs under 14.7 psi of boost. It comes from the pressure of the atmosphere. (assuming you are at sea-level). The air is forced in. not by a vaccum.

                              Indeed, but since the pressure inside the cylinder is the same as the one in the atmosphere because the cylinder is not sealed, there is no forced induction, it would be if you had a vaccum in an airtight cylinder and you opened the intake valve to let atmospheric pressure go in, but in a normal engine the air is actually sucked in by the displacement of the piston... ;)

                                Ugh, that test is too long. I only answered the first 5 questions, then got bored. I don't like taking tests unless I have to.
