    rough idle after valve adjustment?

I just adjusted my valves and the Idle slightly lower than what it use to be and I feel like the car is slightly shaking at the light. I set them to the Bentley specs.
Also, not sure if that would be related but I had the impression today that the engine was running hotter than usual (weather wasn't hot and I did a few mile trip to the food store, temp was about half way the gauge)

    Anybody can help?
    Thanks guys

Sounds like you adjusted the valves too tight.

        I put a new gasket and I don't think I have a leak.
Is it going to blow the engine if I drive it like that tomorrow?

no guarentee...but if you did them to spec (.008 engine ice cold as in hasnt been run in the morning) and did them slightly tight...you should be ok..

i "did my valves" first time to .010 when warm....then .008 cold and i think the 2nd time i did it too tight... but i still drove my car each time...and still drive the shit out of it...

i had an ix..that had valves the needed adjustment...and i drove the shit out of it one day...slammed into 4th...and then broke a rocker. my advice to you...dont drive the shit out of your car...and you should be ok...then when you have time...adjust your valves again right. when you tighten up the eccentric...the .008 feeler gauge should feel "snug" but not tight...it should be tight enough to kinda grab the gauge but not tight to the point where it kinda takes an effort to pull it out

          hope this helps...

The guys at my shop said that they adjust them a little looser than stock and it makes it idle smoother

There are specs for a reason.

Just re adjusted the valves to 0.12 on the engine hot (that's what Bentley recommends) and it seems to have fixed the problem

it's supposed to be .010 cold, not .080 cold. that's way too tight.

Yes, it is 0.10 cold and 0.12 warm
I did mine 0.10 with engine slightly warm and it was too tight, had to redo it

Was it smoother after you re-did them?

yes, car runs perfect now. I can so tell the difference.
I really wanted to do them at 0.1 with an ice cold engine but my car is my DD and I would have to do this on a weekend in the morning. Couldn't take a chance to drive all week.
