E46 M3 GTR did not run an S62.

Looked like a race prepped S62 to me, but you're correct. I found the specs saying it's a 4.0L vs the 4.9L S62.

I think the straight 6 design is the best ever but the new m3 is still way sick

It ran a one off 4L V8. Details are limited on any specs on the motor.
