    bmw335ist update

Here is A pic of some of my turbo parts.

Currently the car is in the body shop for dent removal and paint, and the motor should be rebuilt by the time the car gets back.
I will post more pictures of the motor rebuild process and turbo assembly.

    Here are the specifications.
The head has been ported w/ 18% more flow.
    A custom turbo spec cam w/ A 292 lift.
Double valve springs to handle high Rpm.
Cylinder chamber grooving for better fuel/air mixture.

This is A Metric Mechanic Head that they have been developing for the past 5 years or so. Jim said that just last year they redesigned their cam. He told me they sell the complete motor for $7500, which is A little much right now so I just purchased the Head.
They have also proven the head to run excessive of 7500 rpms.
For further proof of the product E34biturbo runs the complete motor and dynos over
700 hp at 24 psi. The full motor from what Jim told me is a 3.5L worked over to 3.6L 8:2:1 compression pistons and their turbo spec head. .Jim said the cam will make power up to 6800 rpm’s and a little beyond E34 bi turbo set his red line at 7200 rpm’s http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/184332

How does it work? As boost increases load is increased on the back of the valve, reducing load on the rocker arm. (M30 big sixes stock have been known to break rocker arms at high rpm’s due to high stress from the cam and valve springs.) This results in safe high revving when boost is on. Also some company’s have proven the m30 big six at 15psi on the stock head gasket and internals at 311 rwhp and 376rwtq.

My goal is 450-500 at the Wheels.

Very Nice I want A Copy of your Engine mounts. I'm starting to gather parts for my m30 swap and will be going to the junkyard this week sometime to grab more parts.

that is going to be insane. what engine position are you running? like rs4pro3 said if you wanted to make copies I'd be in depending on the mounts you have

My best friend Alexis is an engineer student at OSU he also drives A white 325is. He is helping me design and replicate motor mounts for the N/A or Turbo applications, and if others are seories I can replicate the exhaust system.

I have tried to stay with the stock 5 series radiator and not having to beat the fire wall it makes for an easy install but I have the motor setting really low and right on the fire wall.
The reason for this is stock 5 series radiator hoses, stock radiator mounting holes ( same as E30 radiator mounting holes) You do have to adapt heater hoses but that is easy.

What kind of exhaust manifold and turbo combination does Metric Mechanic recommend?
I don't know, but perhaps you already planned for a better exhaust manifold?

I would custom-make an equal-length pulse-split exhaust manifold with a separate wastegate. A good head like that is wasted when you kill the performance with a log type exhaust manifold, a better manifold is peanuts with regards to total cost but still means a lot to the performance. To reach your goal of 450-500 hp you will run into trouble with back-pressure in the exhaust manifold you had in the picture.

Sounds like my plan, I'm going with teh E28 M30 radiator and don't want to beat the fire wall. How soon do you think some mounts would be ready to sell?

The head looks good, everything else (car included) look like a mess. Should make alot of power, but seriously? Why? That much power just is not usable in a e30, not unless it is a drag strip car (a waste) or a donut machine (just stupid)

I know Alexis, I just gave him my old hood. His white 325iS is more confused then your e30 will ever be (i hope) lol.

                          A boosted M30 installed in a E30. If that isn't insane, I don't know what is

Your car is destined to be a screamer. Good luck with your progress.

I appreciate the feed back and do under stand that there is a big mess to clean up, for that reason I have stripped the car and the motor apart and cleaning every thing I will keep every one posted

P.S The car will be a track and street car with a 2:93 or 2:78 gear ratio
