just use a flat head screw driver to wind the spring up and then make sure it clips into its little slot and its all good... not too hard to fix (at least i think that is what you meant) -
That's kind of what I was doing. I was gripping the end with some needle nose pliers, then winding it around it. Kept breaking though. It's a wierd winding too. It twists inside the holder of the housing one way, but then back the other way to hold it in there. Kind of wierd. I don't know how it broke in the first place.Originally posted by e30evolutionjust use a flat head screw driver to wind the spring up and then make sure it clips into its little slot and its all good... not too hard to fix (at least i think that is what you meant)Originally posted by Beej '86 325esI'm in the same boat with you. I recently bought an RS4 3 SS with a ton of aluminum parts used. It's got a .15 engine in it, but I just broke the pull start on it...trying to get ahold of HPI to order a new one. I was into the electric ones pretty big in high school, but this is my first nitro, so it's kind of like starting all over again.-Brandon

Is it rechargable? If not crack it open and there should be a C or D sized battery in there, I'd clean the air filter, and replace the glow plug also. Then make sure the carb is set right. Go by Barnes and Noble and see if you can Find some radio control car action issues. Every year they put out a starter guide and they have a specific one just for nitro vehicles. It will coer everything from tuning the carb and all. I'll see if I can find any online info for you.85 325e 2.7 ITB'd stroker

Hey Rob, if you need any help, hit me up on AIM. I can tune anything. I've had much practise with RC, go-ped and my car. :)

P.S. - AIM is NitroRustlerDrvrComment

Close the big needle on the carb, and then open it 2.5 turns counterclockwise.
Maybe make sure all your fuel lines are run away from heat, no kinks, etc.
Are you running a filter between the tank and the carb?

I recently dusted off my old Tamiya Stadum Thunder off-road truck. I beat the shit outta this thing at the skatepark I worked at for a summer. Good fun though. I am getting a 14 turn motor today (trading my friend) so it will go even faster but last even less time :(
I need new rear wheels and tires too mine are square.
RC cars (on or off road) are great fun but can also eat up money. Eating up money sucks.
Sold it.Comment

Any of you HPI guys use their RotoStart thing? Looks pretty slick, and a lot more failsafe than the stupid pull starters.-Brandon
