My father has my car in his name. I still owe him money for it. He doesn't want me lowering it.

Tough shit! You gotta stickup for yourself.

So I'll have money to blow on it, and lower it. Thank goodness....

I think before you consider an engine swap, you should do some suspension work and get the cars handling up to par with what the motor would be IMO

          -I agree w/ BahnE30
-Charlie is right, $5k will go very fast
-Why waste the awesome balance your 318 has by stuffing a huge ass M30 in it
-If I had a 318 like yours (read: very nice) I'd seriously consider putting an S14 in it 8)

          Food for thought,

Why put a high strung 4 in it when you can get > power out of an M50 for less?

"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."

Weight balance. Adding an M50 to an early 318 makes a more drastic difference than an M50 in a late model 325i.

First off. Are you going to school next year? Money is tight in college....so don't blow it all on a M30 just yet.

Secondly, why is your folks name on the title. Weak.

Thirdly, Bryson says he's done the swap for a grand. Granted you have to do a lot since you have an early 318 rather than late 325, but still. I'd go M50 if you want to.

Finally, with 5G's in the pocket, you could just buy another car. That's where I'm headed instead of swapping, kitting, and repainting mine. Put $10K in a $5 E30 and it's still only worth $6K.

OT: Andrew, if you haven't paid off your car, and can't afford suspension, why'd you buy those wheels....

Someone on Bf.c is making about 175hp and 200 ft-lbs with their setup. That's nearby stock M50 numbers.....with less weigh, and retaining your engine.

Use 125 Octane Leaded race fuel for the next few weeks.

                              That should do the trick.
