Talk me down! Any previous E36 M3 owners here?

Bored, I checked searched AutoTrader for E36 M3's. There are some very low mileage cars (<75K) available...

    Any previous E36 M3 owners here? Anybody feel the E30 325is > E36 M3?

Didn't really like it... brakes kick ass though. Just wasn't my thing.

Handles better, goes faster, stops faster, is more convenient, but isn't as neat as an E30.

The E36 M3 is obviously a very capable machine, but does it have the nimble, light, solid feel of an E30? The intangibles? On paper, the E36 M3 > E30 325is, but...

I saw a Titan Silber with low miles on AutoTrader - Dove interior, totally stock with Contours, no wing ;) But, I just took a drive in my car down Carbon Canyon and back, and I doubt the M3 can deliver the same satisfaction. Or can it?

The M3 would rock the straights at BWRP and WSIR...

I've driven one, the traction control can kill you, and without it it's a bit "tail happy".

But it is a great vehicle, I like the E30's shape more though.

I've driven my e46, my buddy's e36 m3, and my buddys e30 325is. the e36 m3 had the best solid, stable, handle beautifully. when I drove it, i said to myself
'this is how a car should handle'

I often ask myself why I own a E30 when E36 M3's can be had for a very reasonable price these days. Like mentioned, the E36M3 is 'better' in every department than the E30 and parts are not that expensive either. But I still dont own one and love my E30 everytime I hammer it around a corner.

                    I have a bad feeling one day I won't be able to resist a E36 M.

I've had 2 E36 M3's, the second of which was a Dinan supercharged car making 321rwhp. I'm not going to lie, they are great cars no doubt. Personally, I think the E30 offers greater feedback for the driver and is ultimately more fun to drive.

With the E36 M3 prices where they're at now it is certainly tempting. I think if I was looking to spend 10 to 15k, I would opt for a nice E30 M3.

i would not mind a 95 e36 m3 as my second BMW. But i would not get rid of my car for it. I might get rid of my bike for it though.

E36 does not have the go-cart feeling to it and most likely need things replaced but its not anything different from buying an 7-12 year old m3 and a 15-22 e30. They are both going to need the necessary maintenance. I've owned two e36's (currently a 96 m3) and one e30, I still love my e30 for be an e30. I love my e36's for being great cars but they lack that "it" factor the e30's have, even a e36 m3. But if you can get one at a great price, you are getting an amazing handling car and a pretty fast car.

                            e30 simple, cheaper.
e36 faster, better as a daily out of the box.

                            it's a preference, but I wouldn't mind e36m3 as a daily and turn e30 more into a track/autox only type of car.

id really like a 95. but im worried as to the places i see them for sale. usually on autotrader. very rarely a "english as a first language" car lot, or the car has all clear ebay lights. which to me is a sign as to who has owned it. still a strong possible though. although i hope they hold together better than my 93 325 did (headliner, door panels fell apart).

edit: most mods are ALOT cheaper!
