    Defroster question

Is A/C required for the windshield defroster (or de-fogger) to work, or is all that's needed a working blower fan ?

I removed the whole a/c, heater system from my e30 a while back and now thinking about installing half of it back just so that I can drive safely when it rains. I don't care for heat or a/c.

So, to save me the trouble would installing just the blower fan work or do I also need the heater ?

i don't have an ac compressor currently and it works. HOWEVER it works alot quicker with ac. Sometimes I crack the pass window to get it to clear up quicker.

a/c is not required for the windshield defroster to work it just helps it work because it removes moisture and heat from the air. i believe you could get away with just the blower, but id put the heater in too. especially if you are in a climate that temperature fluctuates. that way you can apply heat when needed to help defrost your window.

You don't care for heat or A/C? You're crazy man.

But then again, it's about 20 F outside, and it's probably a bit warmer where you're at.

And do you not care for a cluster too?

Dash with cluster, glove box, stereo etc is in place :) There are just far too many things I'll need to source to get the heat back on, let alone A/C. I tossed the whole assembly out.
