So I weighed the 318 today

Here's all I can think of that has been modified that might affect weight.

19lb 15" wheels with relatively heavy 225/50 tires (gain more than a couple pounds)
GC suspension (lose a couple pounds)

That's about it. I had a full interior, spare/jack/etc was in. EDIT: I had 1/8th tank of gas /EDIT. I stepped out of the car, and couple seconds later the guy told me my car weighed....

    2360lbs.

Eat it, you six cylinder dudes. Only reason to own one of those pigs is for a daily driver.

Awesome! What does the sticker inside the door jamb say the curb weight is?

Interestingly enough, the curb weight (3320) less the full cargo weight (940) is 2380.

Very nice Bill.... I am sure you will be able to loose some more lbs in other places, seats, wheels, tires, brakes, etc....

I always say to buy a 318i (early) because they are so light...

how much gas did you have in the car?

maybe that is the diff between the weight on the sticker and what you weighed in at.

                  Yup. 2600lbs even.

BTW, my e21 with the M10 weighs 2380 with full interior, 15in wheels (+2 basically) with 205/50/15 front and 225/60/15 rear (much heavier than stock 185/70/13), a full tank, and no front bumper. It's nice to know that the e30 M10cars didn't gain that much weight over the e21.

If you swapped to plasitc bumper shells it ywould be even lighter.....
SOMEBODY messed with my sig so now you get this one:

                    In the garage. ;)

Are you suggesting I install them without the reinforcements and shocks? Can't say that hasn't crossed my mind.

Just for referrence, my 1990 325is with a small amp and 12" sub in a sealed box (figure 40lbs for everything there?) and an empty tank weighed 2820lbs. This was pre-GC.

Great news Bill, '84 318's are extremely light. Throw in an M42 and it'll be even lighter!

We've weighed some cars at the local dump, here are some of the ones I remember:

                          '90 325i 4dr 5spd stock- 2840
                          '91 318is/24v/325 driveline- 2620
                          '97 M3- 3180
