Why in god's green earth would you track a wagon??? I know people do it, but they also have them street legal.

Alex did/does. I don't know if he has his euro s50'd/5 lugged wagon anymore.

If you want one that badly, why not just bring it in as a car not being licensed for the road (track car, whatever)

I'm figuring the reason for importing a roller would be that it isn't considered a full car, and that VIN's could be "accidently" swapped at some point while the car is in storage.

I believe it is considered a full car for that reason. Plus you still have to register the vin which won't work..
The problem is you can import it in peices like my friend did with his honda powered elises. He brought it in as a "kit" but when it came time for GA dot to inspect, they would not clear it upon inspection. He had to clear them with a buddy in va. one still isn't street legal.

You would spend thousands getting it legal. I wouldn't bother for a few more years when they are legit.

and for the OP: No. the easiest solution by far is to buy one in canada and cross the border, then swap vins. illegal but doable. Or else you are looking at 10+k to get one, especially with the low dollar.
