Ix Snow Sucess Story (alot of pics)

just a little rant on my ix snow experience today:

so tolland, ct. got about a foot of snow today. i was at work from 10-6 pushing carts at a grocery store in the snow . anyways, when i got off work my car, which parked at the end of a very full lot in the morning, was left all alone with about 2 feet of snow pushed against it by plows at the end of the day. the entire town, which is very hilly and hard for plows to get to, was unplowed and was a mess, just deep snow, ruts from cars, and vacant. soem pics of my car at the store lot:

snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats my foot ^

this is the roof of the car:

    the spot it was in:

the drive: so anyways, i shoveled the sides away, but left the pile of snow behind my car, about 1.5 feet, backed the car up, just went right through, never slipped. pulled it into a plowed spot and cleaned it off fully, and then was off. the roads, unplowed, were a mess. the way home for me is up a very large hill, one that cars know to avoid when it snows. so i figured, its an ix, lets try her out. i get to it, and theres 3 cars stuck on the side, so i downshift to first and go up the unplowed rut filled hill. the ix went up amazingly, passed vans and trucks and put them to shame. so i got to the top and the roads were still pretty bad. so i drove home around turns and hills and descents. the ix is the most amazing snow car ever. i thought it was good, but not THAT good. im speechless at its performance, simply unbelievable.

    the roads:

btw the pics ^ were taken while driving. im aware how dangerous that was, i took them with both hands on the wheel. please don't comment on that

    a rwd drive e30 (325i) that got stuck and was abandoned at the lot for the night :o;

end of rant, just very impressed with this car and am amazed that i actually own one. cant wait till this weekend!NOREASTER!!

Those conditions honestly arent that bad. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bring you down or nothing, and it's great that you love your car or how its served you today, but I'm just saying that I also live up a very steep hill, and in similar conditions did just fine with an LSD e30 325i. I must say though I am jealous of the ix, I wish I had one, But I have been through alot worse with RWD. I better stop taling before I just make things worse for myself lol.

i understand man, i have too.

but this is my first snow, in the first winter with my ix. im sure itll go through some worse snow and conditions, but my first time with it i was very impressed. it wasn't insane out, but it was still very slippery and ice was under the snow at some points

i still have yet to attempt to drive my car past thanksgiving it stays under a winter car cover till mid April. As for a car i use my sisters jeep :) the reason for not driving in winter there is 0 rust i mean 0 it was originally purchased in southern california, then sold to another owner there, then the guy brought it to mass in 2002 sold to another guy who only drove it in spring summer and fall, then i picked it up in 05. so i know it is a good winter car but i would like to keep mine away from it. just thought i would post.

What kinda snow tires you got on there?

I could make it thru a lot more if I wasn't 3 inches off the ground and had stock ground clearance.

My only fear now is getting pummeled witha foot of snow...then I won't be driving OVER the snow...I'll be pushing it all aside with my lip! LOL

I was trying to go from my job in Vernon to my girls apartment in Willington because its closer to my job than my house in Hartford... but the highways were shut down so I tried t0 take 30 to 74 to 195.... then I got stuck on a hill on 74, turned the wheel and slid back down the road to the highway... I managed to sneak onto the then closed 84 right behind a fleet of Snow Plows doing the highway and followed them until about Manchester, then I hopped on rt5/15 and hit the berlin turnpike and took the backroads home to Hartford... what a fucking adventure...

Then I get to my apartment and my landlord hadnt come to plow yet (wtf, 5 hours after it started snowing and no plow yet?), so I shoveled a path to my spot, parked and came inside... then 10 minutes later I hear a snowblower, go outside and see that my landlord had plowed around my car, leaving in a snowbank all around, the entire back half of the car, ground to roof, was covered. And I chipped my shadowline scraping the ice off

It was 7 cars. A 7 car pile up. Oddly, last night a Scrubs repeat on Comedy Central Elliot mentioned her grandfather died in a 7 car pile up and JD thought it would be a good name for a rock band.

According to WFSB, there were over 700 accidents reported in state and the average time to get through Hartford during the day was 2 and a half hours. They shut down I-91 because of all sorts of truck accidents. Because of all the bumper to bumper traffic people were stranded out there and the snow trucks couldn't dump their sand!

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.

wow, when stories spread they get all fuckked up. some lady at big y told me she saw around 30 cars piled up....oh well, guess it wasn't that epic after all :(

and ya, the roads were a mess, cars were along side the roads everywhere.
kinda weird driving down the main road, and every things white, the roads are completely empty, and the wind is howling. like a scene in a bad horror movie or something.
