BMWUSA website revamped, 1 series pricing now listed

Just a heads up that bmw has released pricing and build your own options for the 1 series.

I spec'd one the way I want it and ended up with:

    Base MSRP$34,900
    Alpine White$0
    Coral Red Boston Leather$1,450
    High gloss black trim$0
    Sport Package$1,000
    Comfort Access system$500
    Heated front seats$500
    HD radio$350
    iPod and USB adapter$400
    Premium hi-fi system$875
    Satellite radio$595
    Destination & Handling:$775
    Total MSRP as Built$41,345

Not too sure about the $1000 sport package, which seems to be nothing more than shadowline trim?
At least you can get one w/o things I don't care for like power seats, iDrive, active steering. Still a bit pricey, but ended up being what I expected.

Yeah, my options list is definitely subject to change after I actually try one out in person. I was going off the fact that most base bmw sound systems are terrible.;)

              Bullshit.

Tell me why so many of the 335is that are taken to the track end up in limp mode a few laps into a 20 minute session?

While that may not be an issue for daily driving usage, it is unacceptable to someone like me.

                Fixed. Not just you Dave.

I don't think holding a new high performance 3 series to a certain level of reliability is out of this world. If these problems continue because of hard driving obviously they need to be taken care of.

So how is it that you can get European Delivery price on a new BMW? I read the thread, but I didn't see a description in there.

I need to put you in touch with a friend of mine who has tried tracking his 2007 335i twice in recent months. Mind you these aren't races, just HPDEs (high performance driving events) and each day he's had his car out for a 20 minute lap session, the car defaults into limp-home ('safe') mode after about 10 minutes due to excessive temps thus ending his day early. He's actually considered getting a new R32 to replace this car.....his last ride was a 2004 R32. So either my friend drives too hard or the 335i needs its cooling attributes improved. Let me know if you think I'm full of shit, I'll give you his e-mail to validate everything I've mentioned.

As Dave mentioned, until BMW gets this temp issue resolved on the twin turbo motor, the NA version looks like the best bet for someone who may track the thing from time to time. The lower asking price is also a nice enticement.

You guys giving anecdotes need to differentiate between 335i with or without oil coolers. I have yet to hear anyone with an oil cooler have a problem with high temps on track. Im sure that the 135i will have one.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

Oil cooler equipped 335i's also overheat. Just not instantly.

Last time I was at MSR I rode in a 6spd 335i coupe with a oil cooler. I think it made it 4 full laps on the 1.7 before we limped off the track.
