I currently have a problem with a stock front strut. It is basicaly gone, and i was wondering if there were any chances of it flying apart, or if there was an internal stop to keep it from coming apart to much. I need to drive 100miles one way this weekend, and this is my only car.

Do you have plans to swap it out?
If so, take this opportunity to learn from my mistakes.
buy good springs - not tokikos or e30 m3 springs.
If you go padless, at least run 1 pad on the top rear
Buy M3 cabs
Buy a press and new balljoints - don't buy all new control arms. This also helps with the CABS.
Don't do anything less than bilstein HDs
I'm about to do shocks and springs on my 3rd e30 - and what can I say, r3v was right."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."

ok...i didn;'t figure it could just fly apart with my previous understanding of other hydraulics. I have some vogtlands and kyb gr-2's being ups'ed to me as we speak, everything else was replaced by stock componets 3 years ago, and are still in great condition.
Does anyone have any opinions about the springs and struts/shocks i mentioned? because i rode in a friends car with them, and it seemed great for a daily, firm but not harsh, low but plently stiffsigpic

Use one rear pad to avoid noise. Rake is nice anyways."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."

KYBs are generally crap. Some people blow them in weeks. I'm sure someone will buy them off you. What was the cost of the entire setup if you don't mind? I'd rather have used billys than new KYBs on my car if that tells you anything. It's possible that the vendor you got the setup from sells bilsteins too - maybe you can ship yours back and trade plus cash?"We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."
