I read on some websites that GM reformulated their additive to contain less zinc, and others say that they merely changed the part number and the formula is the same. They discontinued their old additive, part number 1052367, and replaced it with a new part number, 88862586.

Do you know anything about this?

On all my race motors, I would break them in on the dino stuff and let everything seat right and then switch to royal purple.

I run synthetic (mobile) in everything I own, and will not change. All of my cars run well (well, when the e30 runs) and r3v happily, pull hard, etc.

of course synthetic is going to be better, the molecular structure is stonger than dino-juice. it dosen't break down, so it maintains it's viscosity, therefore it dosen't leak.

there's always royal purple. its not that much more expensive than regular full-syn and my room mate swears he's getting better mpg and less noise with it.

          plus, you know, it's purple.
