I must say that it will be awsome, Ryan and I cleaned out the garage today in preperation for painting tomorrow.
To answer everybodies questions:
I can ask the parents if they want another kid, but no promises
Yup, Im Elliott
Lift cost $2k shipped, shipping is a bitch ($350)
Boise, that in America?
not mine:
I was a little confused about why your parents bought the house. Are they trying to play the real estate market and are investing in it, because that would be cool.
One of my friend's mom's did that last summer. She bought a house, her kids stayed the summer there and partied, hung out, then cleaned it up, painted it up and sold it for a profit! 8)
Yea, his parents live in MD and wanted to move out here eventually so they bought a house to start making equity out here. Its easier to buy another house once you already have one in the area, and since people are no longer allowed to build new homes in Santa Barbara, its a good thing to do.
Painting today, should be sweet! I need to put up some drywall to finish off the walls, then we are going to make some shelves.
Here is what we started with...
I will get the pics up when we are done in a few weeks with making our own mini-shop at the house 8)

Sorry about that, but to answer your question....well Ryan sorta did that, so you can just see his post.
Anyways the floor got painted today, looks great, Ryan got the drywall up and its starting to look like a decent garage, rather than the barn the people before me had. They just had their shit piled up to the celing, no cars, just shit.
Forget the exact measurements but do remember we calculated a lift height (distance bottom of car from ground) to be 5-6 feet, we will just have to wait to see exactly where it ends up being, the roof tents so the middle is much higher than the sides, thats what allows me to do this, becasue the roof of the car is only about 5 feet long, then the hood and trunk are a couple feet below that.
To paint the floor we first washed it with a degreaser, I used oil eater. Then sprayed it down to get all the degreaser off, got all the excess water out. Then went back with acetone (diluted in water) and scrubed the floor with 60 grit sandpaper. After you spray the floor down again to get the acetone off, just wait for the floor to dry and you are ready to paint. If you have a home depot near by get the two part epoxy paint. It is really strong stuff. It comes in a kit, get two gallons worth and little paint chips you can throw on the floor as the paint dries to give it a more professional look.
Nice is the concrete strong enough to support the lift? I know the shop I was working at stripping e30's had to get the concrete tested before they could install the lift as it had to be X inchs thick.
yeah, the concret has to be 6in or 4in reinforced (with rebar), we had it tested and its at least 4 and its reinforced, just dont build houses like they used to, they didnt skimp when they were building this house.
heheheh - this is where I doing my m30 swap...We're thinking of pulling the entire front subframe off the car, then drop the car ONTO the motor/subframe assembly...just like the factory
You can do all sorts of stuff SO much easier with a lift I bet, SO much easier to get under the car, or even working on the body to put it at eye level.

Man this project has been so exciting... It looks FANTASTIC! I will get some pics up tomorrow after all the work is done. We are finished painting the walls after the plaster work, and the floor is complete.
32gal Air Compressor with 5.5HP motor just got into the garage today, and an engine hoist/floor jack are the next big items on the list (by next weekend). The list will be done the first week of July.
Will we be the only ones on this board with a lift in-house? Man this is awesome 8)
