started as a vw (air cooled) tech/helper at an independent shop, then went on to do fab work and building complete turn key sand-rail chassis at the same shop. got tired of that and worked the parts counter for 5 years. i helped my friend build and campaign a 1970 karmann ghia in the west coast division of scca and the car was featured in VW trends. left there to work at a dodge dealership doing parts and tuned and built water cooled vw's on the side. on the side i also learned how to fab body parts with an English wheel and planishing hammer from an old English coach builder. i also helped the Viper tech do side work an race prep them on the side too. quit that dodge dealer after 3 years and went to a different one closer to home. worked there for a year got laid off, got a job at the independent Porsche shop where my dad had his 1971 euro 911s fixed at. worked there for 4 years..as a tech and doing bodywork/restorations on Porsche's. while i was there i built a 1973 914-6 replica with the motor out of my dad's Porsche as a gift to him, and i bought my 1991 325i from the guy who had an independent BMW shop next door when i got tired of daily driving the Porsche. left that shop to work at a shop up the street for way more $$$ and a chance to have insurance, and to gain more high line experience. at that shop i was the Porsche specialist tech, but also worked on jag, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, lambo, Benz, vw (newer), Audi, landrover, mini, infinity, and more experience on Accura/Honda. the owner of that shop killed it with a crack/coke habit after a year and a half, i then went to work for a Chevy dealer for 2 months and had a couple grand in tools stolen over a weekend, so i quit when they would not reimburse me for my loss and went to work for the Mercedes Benz dealer i am at now. on Aug 27th i caught fire at work, went into the hospital for 3 months, and now i am back at work.

Turned wrenches for a few years between jobs as a machinist a long time ago. I have always like cars and working on them, but after an offer to get back into a machine shop I jumped back into it. Now I own my own shop in partners with my dad. Never gave up the wrenching. It has always filled in the gaps for money when things were tight with the business. Guess I will always work on cars.sigpic

Full time pie slinger and babysitter...with a closet case of bently fever.
Every day I wake up we drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN
Every day I wake up to a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in.
Lobsterbacks attack the town again
Wrap all my things in aluminum
Beams of darkness streak across the sky
Pink rays from the ancient satellite
Every time I look out my window same three dogs looking back at me.
Every time I open my windows cranes fly in to terrorize me.
