Do it only if it's a 335. Then chip it and beat the hell out of it. Remember you don't own it. Drive it like you stole it!

Wait a minute...your E30 is stock except for springs?

Why the fuck do you think you can afford $350 a month to lease a car...and still be able to mod your E30...which you haven't done yet?

2 years is a long time, man...think it through.

When you are done thinking and you haven't decided to invest in buying a house instead, keep thinking. Then put $250 a month in a CD until you can afford to buy a house.

Have you leased a car before?

Having said that, what are the exact terms on the $209 a month lease ?

How long is the lease, is it 2 years (you said trade it every 2 years above) ?
How much due at signing ?
How many miles per year are you allowed to drive ?
How much will each mile over the allowed amount cost you ?
What's the model / configuration or the price of the car this lease is calculated on ?

Example. I leased an 06 audi a4 quattro, 2.0t with about 10k worth of options. (S-line package(different front/rear bumpers and trunk lid with integrated spoiler, sportier suspension and 18" wheels/tires) leather heated front/rear seats, bi-xenons, ski package, xm, bluetooth etc. Price of the car was close to 42k, leased for two years with first month and taxes due at signing (about 1200 or so), 12k a year in miles allowed, 480 a month.

For 200 a month, this has to be 30k car or less ? Basically a bare bone car with a huge upfront payment and/or 10k per year long term lease ? There is so many ways to calculate a lease, you gotta give us more info. IMHO if it's a bare bones car, I wouldn't do it honestly. You'll be locked in for the term of the lease in the car you might not enjoy at all. Plus, to end the lease early you basically have to pay up the remaining payments in full.

        my 2 cents.

Usually all lease/purchase deals like these are on the barest bones of all in their inventory. The dealer does it to draw people in that think " Damn I can be driving a new BMW for just over $200 month " but when they get there and start looking and test driving is when they get flipped to the more loaded out more expensive cars. When they leave its either not in a new BMW or a new one leased for $609 month because they had to have all the bells and whistles and not that bare bones 4 banger .....

If you everyone could go in and lease a 335 with first & last and security depost for $209 month I would assume they would be everywhere when in fact I do not see near as many of them as the other e90's ....

                He works for BMW...

Think of saved gas cost too, that might also be a good factor.

Anything less than the 330 really sucks to drive, part of my job is driving e90's around and it's anything but exciting.

Depending on the spec sheet of the e90, number of doors, engine, ect. if you can afford it and need a nicer traveling car, i'd do it. Since you still have the e30 you could resort to that if you rack up too many miles on the lease. Also, look into just buying a newer late model car, CPO maybe? Get a loan from the bank, pay some off sell the car. Do that every couple years and drive a nice e46, e39, e90 whatever.

Thats probably true. I should make the E30 respectable first, then save up some cash to buy a house. I guess $350 is a lot of money a month to spend on something thats not really yours. I guess I can wait til Im done with school so I can really afford a nice house, and the car as well.

The really big problem that I see with leasing a car is that you put all of this money into it, and you still have to give it back. I work at the local dealer, and outside of the 330 and the 335, e90's are very boring to drive. I will never lease a car because it doesn't seem right to put thousands of dollars away every year to drive. Just buy an old car (or use the one you've got) and save the money, or at least do something useful with it.

A little anecdote: my parents both worked at GM for a good period of time. As such, we got good deals on leases of crappy cars. We would replace the cars every 2 years and get a new one. Last year I told them to keep track of how much they are spending to "rent a car." A year later, they now outright own a nice infiniti, a tahoe, and an E34 M5. Way better than the base model, pos Chevys we got with a lease...
