$209 a month to lease a 328 or even an X3 if you are a BMW employee. I think you gotta put like $600 down also. But yeah, its just like renting for 2 years.

The positive is you dont have to pay for anything that happens to the car except for tires on the tradein.

But I suppose for the $209 a month, I could buy an E36 M3, and actually have it as MINE.

I do like to drive the 328 though, we drove one all weekend, and I drive em weekly at the dealership, and I think theyre fun. Its totally different driving a NEW car than it is driving an E30 lol.

What's the term like, how long is the lease, how many miles? Do you know the actual details ?

My car is a magnificent vehicle for being an 87 but compared to a 2007 335i gimme a break just cause we love our e30s doesn't mean their comfortable and economical or even fast. i like my e30s style and engenering but it has little noises and clicks that can drive me crazy i guess you can call it personality and thats what it comes down to e30s have soul e90s are nice and new. but since your keeping your e30 i would do it

The lease is two years, and I think miles are around 15k a year.

I think Im over the E90 based on the logic steroinstaller brought to me lol. Its kinda a waste of money to spend over $7k over two years just to rent a car.

Highly doubt it's 15k a year, but yeah. Lease is good when you can write the car off, or if you do end up buying it at the end of the lease. It will cost you a couple grand more total, but atleast you didn't blow the money away completely.

Most guys just rack up the miles, drive the shit out of it, and trade it in a couple months early for a new lease. That way you are not penalized for the mileage.

I guess $350 is a lot of money a month to spend on something thats not really yours. I guess I can wait til Im done with school so I can really afford a nice house, and the car as well.
Excellent thinking - follow this and you'll be OK.

Everything that has been said so far is accurate, except for one thing: the lease will give you known car costs for the two years. It has been my experience that keeping an E30 running for a significant number of miles/yr is considerably more expensive than $2500/yr, therefore if you avoid the lease and keep driving the E30 instead you won't be saving much (I'd say you'll actually be spending more money, but I'm sure 9500 people here will point out that they can keep their E30 doing 30k mi/yr for about $500. Let's just say that I haven't been able to do that).
Therefore, if the alternative is 'keep driving the E30 significantly' or 'buy the E90 and keep the E30 as a once-a-month toy', do your math carefully to determine which will actually save you money. I have and the only reason why I am keeping the E30 is because I know that I can spare the money. If I put toghether the bills that my 325 graced me with from the end of 2000 to today, the cost per mile significantly exceeds that of an E90, lease included. DIY can help defray a lot of those bills but not all of them. Plus, everyone's time has a value that should be factored in.

I was going to keep the E30 either way lol. It was basically just should I spend the cash or not on the E90.

But as far as keeping up the E30, I dont ever have anything go wrong. This year I spent the $500 or whatever to tbelt, h20p, cap, rotor, tstat, etc. And besides gas, that was really the only cash I put into it.
