I paid $30 for court costs, and $110 to take the 8 hour school.

~$140, and no points on my license.

    I was doing 65 in a 35.

I didnt spend anything on a lawyer, because I figured if I got in trouble, it would teach me to deal with the consequences.

People like you are the ones that make insurance so high and patrols so heavy. He should have arrested you for reckless driving and had your car impounded.

3 months is'nt very long at all. My license has been suspended for 13 months already and still have 2 more to go. I didnt get a DUI or anything crazy....I just had too many tickets. I got two tickets in my own neighborhood going 12 over both times and another one for 55 in a 45. It really does suck but I mean 3 months aint shit. Im just going through with the suspension because I realize I messed up.....people do mess up but that doesnt mean you get to cut out on the consequences.

To the guy that said to drive with your license suspended......NEVER do that unless your like staying in your neighborhood. If a cop pulls you over hes gonna run your name to see if you have any warrants or suspensions. If your caught(atleast in VA) you go to jail for 30 days and suspension starts all over again. You can survive 3 months without a license.....just requires some planning

Do what you can. Deal with the ticket, as cheap as possible, traffic school, what not. Get that 90 day suspension.

            Just drive with the suspension.

If they pull you over, tell them you forgot your DL somewhere but you have another ID to prove who you are and to match with the registration (a school ID works). They will fine you $10 for not having your DL in possession, chances are they won't bother to run the system for your name to look for your DL# to look for your information if you look legit.

By the time you need to take care of the DL not in possession ticket, you should have your DL back by then. Just take your freshly renewed DL to your local court and show the DL and the ticket to the clerk. Pay ten bucks and get outta there!

Basically, you can drive with the suspended license and not get caught.

Hey, don't give me those weird looks, I'm just leaving something that is more useful than "man up"
I don't see this even REMOTELY working.

First off, when you told them your name (whether fake or not) they would look it up and see if you have a license, so you're screwed there. Even if you did get lucky and just get a license not in possession (which is actually a felony in Oregon), when you went to court to show them your new license, they would see the issue date that would be AFTER you got your ticket, so you're screwed again.

Edit: Ignore the above if you were being sarcastic (I really hope you were).

Well I am 29 yrs old and I have yet to have my license for as long as I have been without since I was 16. Get the lawyer, some will do it for a flat rate of $500. I was able to get out of all my stupid speeding stuff. My DUI's are what got me.

              I met your mom.

Never underestimate family. My awesome uncle who is a cop in another county/town got the officer to dump it down to a warning.
I'm fucking happy as a clam cause I get to keep my license.

but don't be breaking any laws or looking suspicious.

                  haha

*Delfin does not condone any driving without a license :D

                      actually

                      it did work for me

                      quite honestly.

when it is a less than a year suspension, they don't put the suspension in the system. they just hold your DL at your local courthouse.

and when I go to the courthouse to get it back, I don't go into court, I just go up to the clerk window and talk to some 20 year old mexican girl who doesn't give a rat's ass anyway. I flash my DL, she goes okay, I pay ten bucks, and I leave.

I bolded CALIFORNIA just to cover anything like "in oregon it's a felony"

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but do you guys have NO LOW in your states?
You can plead it once every 5 or 7 yrs here and the charge will be dropped but you will still need to pay the full fine. I don't know if it applies to people under 18 though.

Side note. I have gotten around 20 speeding tickets since I was 16, I have been pulled over many more times than that and let off. I'm not saying I'm good, I am lucky. I don't condone speeding, but I do condone pulling over the second you know you're caught and actually waiting for the officer. Then tell the truth and don't make excuses. There is no excuse for speeding.
"do you know why I pulled you over?"
                        Yes, I was speeding
                        "why were you speeding"
Honestly, there's never a good reason to break the speed limit, you caught me and I deserve whatever you give me.

If you say that with the right attitude, more than not they will knock it down or give you a warning. I very rarely speed anymore, but when I drove for a living (60,000+ miles a year) I got pulled over alot. Once I explained that I was traveling for work and accepted that I was caught, I was treated in a different light.
                        But srsly, slow down kid.
                        Yours truly,

Dude, you answered your own question with the opening line, dont ask for our advice unless you expect to get called a dumbass.

Since you're under 18, you can still be taught a lesson. This will be it: don't speed; you are not invincible.

there's nothing worse than a reckless teenager behind the wheel (well, actually, there is stupid teenager behind wheel of large SUV). my teenager brother almost got killed a couple months ago, because he was being stupid. I hope he learned a lesson, if not for his own sake, for his family's sake.

You were stupid, that's ok, so is everyone else. Admit it and move on, you'll feel better. If you feel that the punishment is excessive, go to court alone, be humble and beg.. it works sometimes, and it's much cheaper than a lawyer.
