So today I embarked on a journey to go to Moscow, ID (30mi north of Lewiston on the map) to pick up my girlfriend since she'd been up there at a funeral, and I figured she could use a familiar face. Instead of taking the route I had planned on directly north from Boise, and the route that Route 66 gave me, I chose (against better judgement) to follow MapQuest.
Moral: Never trust MapQuest.
Here's what I ended up doing:

It seemed logical enough to me to go through Oregon, then up to Washington and pop back into Idaho because I'd be travelling on at least 4-lane interstates vs a 2-lane sketchy highway through the twisties (again, I said no why??), but oh how I was wrong. The resulting trip, instead of being a simple 680 miles, turned out to be 1113 miles in 12h26m. Needless to say, it has been a long, long day's worth of driving.
On a final note, I picked up a Passport 8500 X50 for the road trip (couldn't get ahold of Sean in time to side-by-side compare it with the V1) and I highly recommend it. The range seems significantly farther than the normal Passport 8500, there are more features/programs and it is available in a choice of blue or red. ooooo aaaaaah. Cool part is that it paid itself off in the first 20 minutes after I stuck it on the windshield, and at least 4-fold over the entire trip (Assuming if I had gotten a ticket I just pressed on, balls to the wall).
