    Buying a 325e

okay so i decided to shoot for some good gas mileage.

with God's help i will soon be buying this 85' 325e.

all it really needs is a tranny due to the first gear syncro.

basicly i wanna know what you guys think.
i also wanna know any suggestions and i need to know all there is about the e opposed to the four cylinder (m10) and the 6cyl m20 i.

i have no clue about the e so if you guys can help me out a bit id appreciate it

Some people don't mind them, most hate them. Learn how to drive it properly (don't bother revving high, no power up there) and you might find it quite a bit of fun.

I like etas, especially the mileage and the longevity of the motor.

I don't mind mine at all but I guess it depends on your plans. I have no desire to keep the eta motor in there so I don't really care about what stock motor is in it. Right now I've been just workin on suspension and brakes.

Hope you're not paying more than a grand for an 85 e with a bad tranny

              Is it free?

I chose an eta for the gas mileage and they tend to be pretty cheap and readily available around here.

my eta is great for gas mileage. i consider it an excellent car for daily driving and general beater use- it can take a lot of abuse. I picked mine up for extremely cheap and I plan to keep it until its completely unsalvageable. here is this one guys website devoted to his eta: www.strictlyeta.net.

I've had two eta's sofar for DD's and don't really mind them. They are not that fast of car but i'm sure your 318 isn't either. I don't daily mine no more now, it's kind of nice and i don't want to see something happen to it. So i just got a S-15 to beat around in.

3.25 diff and a Mark D chip = Fun DD.

                            I love my ETA.

I look after a few eta's in my shop. Good cars, last a long time, and can be fun to drive, especially when compared to an M10 318i.

One thing worth noting, is I have NEVER had an eta come in with a broken timing belt. I can't say the same thing for a 2.5.
